LG optical sound out problems Mod 474A6620

Main problem no sound out via optical, although optical signal (red) can be seen in the cable, and was used in my prior LG mod which aw replaced by LG due to problems with the image. This mod requires you to switch between TV speakers or optical out, not both work at the same time? I have a Yamaha surround system which works well with Panasonic Blue ray recorder, even the optical signal ( white) works well. I have swapped optical inputs and attempted to change all settings possible from the TV end still no sound via optical? Even LG service are unable to sort the problem, Any suggestions would help. TV LG 474A6620 and Yamaha today LG have agreed to change complete board in TV as I seem to have only basic menu's for the sound system
