LG Smart Tv - Cable Box

I recently purchased and LG Smart TV (65UH5500) - everything connected fine in regards to wifi / and cable box. My issue is my cable comes in from Brighthouse Networks Cable Box (Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300) - this shows up in HDMI 2 (where i plugged it in), but i can not get my "LG guide" or "live tv" to work on the tv? Again i have no issues watching tv as long as I am on HDMI2, but none of the "guide" features of the tv work. I used the "device connector" in setup and it is connected, but tuning for channels show 0 channels, "Live tv" shows no signal. The only way to watch tv is on HDMI2. Is my cable box not compatible or cannot be used with the LG guide features? I'd like to use these features and not have to use the brighthouse guides if possible.

The tv is connected to the Internet / I can browse the web use Netflix etc. just can't seem to get the tv to recognize that the broadcast is from a cable box hooked up via hdmi- not from a coax.

Am thinking this guide feature maybe attached to the TV's tuner. Since you are using a set-top box, the TV tuner is not being used.
