LG Soundbar setting not staying on and auto dimming not working

I recently purchased an LG Soundbar model LAS551H. It comes with a remote and wireless. In the paperwork for the unit dubbed the simple manual it pictures the remote that I have. However, when I went to LG's website to download the full manual it shows a different remote than the one I have. So I have the right remote according to one of the manuals and it works fine but I am having trouble with settings.

I have it hooked up to my LG 49UH6030 4k with the LG Simplink. Whenever I turn the TV on and off the soundbar does the same. But there are two settings I am having trouble with.

According to LG's full manual, there should be an auto dimming for the LCD menu on the sound bar. After 3 seconds with no button push it should go off. Mine does not and there doesn't seem to be any way to set it to.

This is related and might help to fix that. The remote has a sleep button where one of the pushes will set the display to off. I prefer it to be off when watching tv, and if I were to, say, change the volume it will display the number of the volume level then go off. But not automatically as the auto dimmer should but after I set the bar to.

My question is I want to know if there is any way to keep that sleep setting permanent. Since it will not dim on it's own it is a pain to have to make sure I push the 'sleep' button on the soundbar remote every single time. I have the TV, DVR and the Sound Bar all running of my DVR remote and I don't want to have to make sure to juggle two remotes when I want to watch tv.

Thanks in advance.

Question: Anyone figured out a way to keep the display light off permanently? That's a deal-breaker for me.
Answer: Same issue here, doesn't turn off. Called LG support - said display cannot be turned off. Now trying to decide if I want to keep it. May not, even though everything else seems to be good

Thanks for responding, Yamitime. Yeah, I know I can toggle it off but then once you power off and on you have to toggle it every time you use the soundbar. If I could map that sleep button to my main remote that would be one thing, but if I have to keep both remotes near me all the time it is a pain. Also in the instructions on LGs website for that model it says:

Auto Dimmer
Display window will be darkened automatically if
there is no key input for 3 seconds.

But that does not happen.

I figured I could cover up the display but then I couldn't see the volume levels, if I want to change the sound, bass level, etc. I don't want to just dim it as I like the sleep feature. The display is off until I hit a button and I can see what I am hitting. Then it goes off again.

I didn't know there were 2 versions of it. I'm wondering which I have as it seems to have different features and a remote than the one in LG's online manual.
