I would like to start a list of mp3 players that people are happy with. Yes, you can do a search on different players, and read reviews etc. But this list is for current owners, who have had and used their player for 'a while', and are happy with it. Simple as that. Something that works as you expect it to, not necessarily funky features. This should provide help for those who want to buy.

So mine is:

I have a memory stick reader, and using Windows Explorer I simply transfer upto 128 MB of files that i want to listen to over the course of the day. Easy, and it works. Quality is good too.

My favorite MP3 player is my car stereo/MP3-compatible CD player, a Kenwood KDC-MPV7019.

I've had a Creative Labs MuVo MP3 player ($131 at Newegg - cheap) for a couple of months now and I'm happy with it. Same as your Sony it has 128MB of flash memory and it also functions as a USB thumb drive, all in a package about the size of a cigarette lighter. I've dropped it on the floor a couple of times now and it's so lightweight it just bounced around a little and it still works fine. Runs on a single AAA battery for 12+ hours.

120% Klipsch Fanboy!!!

I just bought this one with 128MB memory from the <A HREF="http://www.sztge.com/product/MP3-MP304.htm" target="_new">TGE group </A> for my son, he thinks it is awesome!

The review I read on it says it is better than the <A HREF="http://www.nomadworld.com/products/muvo/" target="_new">Creative Nomad MuVo</A> unit and cheaper, the review is <A HREF="http://www.dansdata.com/usbmp3.htm#fred" target="_new">here</A> and an updated pic is <A HREF="http://www.dansdata.com/images/usbmp3/fred280.jpg" target="_new">here</A>.

I think the latest Creative Muvo NX rocks! A much better & improved version of the current Muvo. It has a cool blue backlit LCD that display ID3 tags, track nos, play time, play mode & EQ settings. You can switch the LCD display to suit left or right hand operation & a built-in Mic too!. I was playing with one that belongs to a friend & I'm impressed. Friend said the Muvo NX can be connected directly to the M-Port of a Creative I-Trigue speaker for awesome playback.

Creative even had a contest going on to promote it...giving away the NX & the I-Trigue speaker! Check this out!

Time i added to my own list.
Been playing for a while with an <A HREF="http://www.apple.com/ipod/" target="_new">iPod</A>, and not even a current generation one, but an older 5 GB version.
It absolutely rocks. Obviously the size is brilliant, as i only have 128MB on my clie, although it's still not enough for my 32 GB collection. :)
It's also my friend's iPod. Anyone got one for sale cheap?

131 dollars for 128 mb of memory? ARE YOU AN IDIOT! Hahaha that's the biggest jip I've heard in my life, I'm not even exaggerating. 128 mb flash mp3 player could be bought at a cvs for 15 dollars. Before you go spouting your opinion to an online forum, and really before you go and WASTE your money, do some research, educate yourself on what your buying, because frankly, thinking that you got a good deal is kinda pathetic... you got ripped off but good.

Back in 2003 walking in the street listening to banging tunes on a Sony was cool. Now looking for a public phone to make a call listening on your iphone is cool

I've owned an 8 GB iPod touch for over a year now, and I've owned this Android phone (an HTC Wildfire S) for a couple of months and... I have to say that while I had high hopes for Android I am very very disappointed in it.

The Android has 512 MB of RAM and came out in early 2011 (or maybe late 2010), the iPod has 128 MB of RAM and came out in 2008 (a respectable amount of time in computer tech terms). I can't fathom why, but the iPod is smoother, it responds more quickly, and it practically never crashes (even though I jailbroke it). There is a notable lag when you press play or pause on the Android, almost like it's MP3 is running off some slow emulator program. And more than half the time, 3 seconds into a song after hitting play, you get a random 3 second pause of absolute silence. It's not too big a deal, but considering my iPod NEVER does this, I have to give points to the iPod.

On top of that you have desktop software support. On iTunes I can track my play-count (Android might have widgets that can do this, but I haven't found them). I can create and customize playlists on the device or the computer (with Android you can only do it on the device). You can customize the order in which songs are listen on iTunes, so I can put The Beatles under T (for "T"he), or B (for the "B"eatles). Android doesn't seem to have anything like this, on Android you can't even listen to songs in their natural album order, it always plays songs alphabetically (unless it's on shuffle). With iTunes I can also change and customize album artwork, whereas on Android you need to use these weird add-ons that flood your music folders with metadata to track all the album art. iTunes also uses this kind of metadata, but it neatly stores it in one location, keeping my source folders clear of anything but good music.

I know I'm probably coming off as an Apple fanboy here, but like I said, I WANTED Android to succeed, I didn't come in with any negative preconceptions. It just failed to deliver. All my props go to Apple, iTunes, and the well known iPod.

Addition:
Oh, and I would like to add I actually prefer the old iPod styles with physical keys (like my old iPod Nano 4th) as opposed to the more recent touch-screen style ones. With physical controls I remember I could reach into my pocket and change songs/volume by feel alone. I never even had to remove the device from my pocket, which was great if I was on a walk in hard weather like rain or snow. I find touch-screens awkward for their lack of tactile feed-back. So yeah, my number one would have to be the iPod Nano, BEFORE they gave it a touch-screen. I guess you could also go for the iPod classic... but I wouldn't since it doesn't use solid state memory capacity, it has a mini mechanical hard drive. This means you risk ruining it if you use your MP3 while running (which I do).
