Logitech g230 mic not working

I have a logitech g230 that is brand new. I use an adapter as my computer only has one headphone port and not a microphone one. The microphone will not work even when I have it set as default and have tried for hours to get it to work. The headphones work and its just the mic that does not. Please help!

I'm wondering if your pc does not have a mic input at all.

Actually its a usb adapter.
