Hey guys,

I need your opinion on a good mid-range camcorder that records in decent resolution (looking at AVCHD) that uses SD cards to store the video.

Also must have at least 30x optical zoom.

The only other critical factor is there needs to be a way I can get the date stamp onto my computer with the video so I can edit and burn to a dvd with this information intact. I have read that AVS video converter can do the trick but I must be sure before buying the new camera.

I appreciate any help!

Ok, that will clarify the money issue and other people with better knowledge on camcorder (not me) can help you.

I am not an expert on choosing camcorder. I am new to this as well. Got my JVC HM650 for $299 USD. I paid $278 AUD due to exchange rate, free shipping on ebay. Spec is 1080p, 3.32 Mpixel sensor, 40x optical zoom, 2.7" touch screen, face recognition, windbreak, 1 SDXC slot + 4GB internal. So I think with $700, you can get a really good one.

According to reviews, the JVC looks like a good deal. Has just about everything I need.

Also nice to be able to save some $$.

Thanks for your input, Pyree. I will keep this model in mind.
