looking for a non apple, slim, light and beefy laptop similar to the macbook pro

My employer provides a macbook pro with retina laptop with core i7, 16GB ram and an SSD drive. It is an awesome laptop. I am able to run 2 VMs, glassfish, mysqld, IntelliJ IDEA at the same time. The specs are here: https/www.apple.com/macbook-pro/. The 15‑inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is just 0.71 inch thin and 4.46 pounds.

Is there a equivalent non mac/windows laptop in terms of hardware specs, weight, thickness?

I am looking to buy a slim, light and beefy laptop just like the MacBook Pro but dont want to spend 2K USD.

@iceblitzed, Thanks. The ASUS laptop you posted is a powerful laptop. It is 10lbs though. I am looking for something around 5 lbs. Just updated my post.

two, all with different GPU's, the last one has a built in SSD. they're all about 22mm thick i think? but they're more powerful than the macbook.

This first one is around 6 lbs its from Razer http/www.razerzone.com/store/razer-blade-pro Its a pretty beefy computer although it's pretty pricy. This next one is from MSI and it too is around 6 lbs http/www.msi.com/product/nb/GS70_STEALTH#hero-overview I hope this helps you!

The MSI GS60 and 70 series are awesome, but if you are looking for an even cheaper laptop check this Asus. I'm buying one and replacing the HDD for an SSD.

I'm a big Mac fan (and use one here at the office) but the MSI GS60 and 70 both make me seriously reconsider. As do the Lenovo Y40 and Y50. They're all very attractive pieces of hardware, are very slim, and absolute beasts.
