Laptops for 3D rendering are called "workstation laptops"

they should have at least 4 cores cpu (i7 quad cores) and a Workstation Graphic GPU , there are two kinds , AMD Firepro and Nvidia Quadros .

The AMD is cheaper .

The price depends more on the dedicated graphic card. and that's why they are expensive , they start at $1000 and reach $6000 depending on what you choose.

The next thing to look for is the screen size .. 15 inch or 17 inch .. 15 inch are better for portability and lighter weight , while the 17 inch will give you better Larger view as you know. and you should get the 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 screen resolution with an IPS LC option as well.

The Memory should be 16 G Ram Minimum . and an SSD is welcomed.
but I am afraid for your $1000 it will be hard to have all these

please tell me your maximum budget . and tell me the screen size you want.

Best workstation is made by DELL if you want cheap one .
if you want very strong built one then the Lenovo ThinkPAD "w"

please tell me what you want and the max you can pay.

can you pay more than $1000 ? and what screen size do you prefer ? 15 inch or 17 inch ?

To supplement SNA3: AMD is cheaper, but most software applications require or recommend NVidia. Remember one thing, however: NVidia GeForce cards are cheaper and can run most professional software fine. Quadro cards are sometimes weaker than GeForce, but are optimized for things like CAD; therefore, they have a higher $ mark up.

That is gaming series.Early I don`t known about workstation laptop when my primary choice is Y500 because of consisting Nvidia Geforece GT650M (2GB) DDR5,Intel Core(TM) i7 Processor 3630QM(2.4GHz,1066MHz,6MB Cache),8GB DDR3 Ram(up to 16GB),1TB HDD(SATA),15.6" HD LED Display and it consist Ultrabay Drive(I can support GPU) so I think to be good for Render and Y500 cost is $1199.This cost convenient for me.Really I don`t known
