I am going off to college before too long and I need something that is a bit more portable than my custom build right now. I think I will get about $750 for selling my old gaming rig and I plan to get a new laptop. I am willing to spend around $1000 but if it is truly worth it I could stretch my budget to around $1500. I am looking for some opinion on what people think is worth it. Now for my preferences:
1. I want a large screen. At least 15" preferably 17"
2. I do not care about weight/size.
3. I want a beautiful screen. Not sure if 4K is worth it, but I like things to look nice. I am a fan my brother's Dell Precision M6500 screen, but the nicer is better.
4. I want to do some gaming, mostly LoL, which is not very hard for a computer to drive.
5. I want to do a little video editing here and there, so it needs some umph but not anything crazy.
6. I will be using my own mechanical keyboard and nice mouse, so crappy keyboards do not matter to me.
7. Not sure if I want a mac or not. They are expensive, but I would like to dabble in Garage band and other mac exclusive programs.
8. I am completely fine with refurbished/used products.
9. I don't mind doing upgrades later such as SSD or memory swaps.
10. I really don't care about touchscreens or other gimmicks.
11. I really like nice screens. I mess around in photoshop/illustrator and I like it for gaming as well. This is perhaps the largest factor.

I would like anything. Specific examples of products you know are good, warnings about things to stay away from, anything. I am just trying to get some insight because I have not bought a laptop before, I have any used my custom built.
