My new Samsung 65'' smart TV 8000 series doesn't play AVI files from USB port. According to the e-manual this TV has AVI codec. This files I played from USB ports on few TVs. MP-4 and MKV files are O.K. What can be the problem and is there a way to solve this problem?

Maybe you heard this before. AVI files types is just a "container," you, the TV, still have to deal with the underlying codec, and that's what the TV is complaining about. If friendly, often they aren't, tell you, for example "no WM9 codec available." and if you were to be doing this on a PC, you download a WM9 codec, but ta-da, can't do it on a TV.

Video on a TV-USB is for playing around, extremely limited. So either spend the time re-encoding all your AVIs, or run a dedicated PC to do this.

There are many types of ways you can encode AVI files, the ones you are trying to play may not be compatible. You would need to contact Samsung support and check with them about what the issue may be.
