Losing tv sound

I have a 55 inch Westinghouse Tv.. (Tv not Bluetooth compatible)the sound has always been horrible..the sound goes in & out frequently. Is there a way I can route the sound to come thru speakers instead?

Without the model number of the TV we can't tell what audio outputs it has.
Optical audio out is the most common. You would need to convert that to analog for most powered speakers.
If the TV has a headphone jack that will work without conversion.
Make sure the audio from the TV doesn't go out & in through these connections before you get speakers.
