Lotus 123 now needs User Account Control permission to run

Solution
The only way that this can be done is by turning of the User Account Control.

This can make your PC much more vulnerable to changes caused by malicious software. However you should be okay providing you have a decent anti-virus.

Instructions

  • To disable UAC in Windows 7, 10 and 8 follow the following:

Go to Start Menu -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Account.
    .
Slide the slider bar to the lowest value with description Never notify.

Click OK to make the change effective.

Restart the computer to turn off User Access Control.

I am logged on as administrator. Lotus Smart Suite 9 has been on my PC since the days of Windows XP through to Windows 10 and Lotus 123 has always run immediately on selecting 123w.exe. Recently I had a problem with charts in 123 so I re-installed just the 123 part of Smart Suite. Since then before running 123 I have to answer the message from User Account Control 'Do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your device?'
The other Lotus programs run OK with that message.
