Hello!
I have recently been experiencing major FPS drops when using an external monitor for my laptop, which is a Lenovo Legion Y520 with a GTX1050, 8GB RAM, i7-7700HQ and a 1920x1080 display. I normally get around 100 FPS in games on low-medium settings but when I run games on my display only (laptop screen turned off, lid open) I only get 25-40 FPS. The display I am connecting it to is a 1920x1080 monitor, via a HDMI cable. I have tried changing my NVIDIA Optimus settings but to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
Smedo.

Hi There,

Is there a possibility that you're the external monitor as a secondary or extended monitor? Basically, you will have to use the external monitor as primary and only display when plugged in which will switch off your laptop screen. Both Screens ON will drop the fps.
