For some reason, every 30 mins or so, a random tab opens up on Google Chrome. It has
inappropriate ads, or pictures. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling Chrome, using the Google Chrome clean up utility, resetting Chrome, and running Windows Defender scans, bit it hasn't stopped. Please help, what do I do?

Do you login to Chrome with a Google account (e.g. Gmail)?

If so, then the malware has probably been backed up onto your Google account. When you uninstall and reinstall Chrome, the moment you login to your Google account again, Google will faithfully restore your cloud backup which ends up reinstalling the malware. To fix this, you need to wipe your Chrome sync data. That will delete all the cloud backups, including hopefully the malware.

Make sure you manually save anything you want to keep, such as bookmarks and a list of the extensions you have installed. Be especially careful about any passwords which you may have told Chrome to remember, which you yourself have forgotten.
