How many people are going to blame a drug or a game system instead of the parent. It was his RESPONSIBILITY not to put himself into an intoxicated state of mind around his child, let alone ignoring the kid to play hours of video games. Now, I love games, and have for a long time, and have seen people ditch the blame for anything they are capable of, especially games and drugs.
The guy made a choice, (remember those?), to ignore his responsibilities and goof off. He shouldn't of been smoking pot around his kid to begin with, its not the effects that are to blame, it was his choice to get intoxicated while he was supposed to be alert. Now they are suffering the consequences of his irresponsible choices. People will be running to say how pot or video games finally killed someone, ignoring the fact that he was being irresponsible before he became intoxicated (even alcohol takes a choice, then time, for the effects to happen). Its not the drugs, its the parents! Sober parents mistreat their kids all the time (very sadly) and even if drugs were responsible for half(they don't even come close), then how do you account for the other half?. How many people do you know that take in a mind altering drug called CAFFEINE every day? Yet we don't hear how it causes twitchy morning drivers to speed more than usual when they are jacked up on java/sugar(and most people do speed, i don't, but most do).
Don't try and say that games or drugs are the problems unless your also think the spoon is responsible for making people fat, or that we should ban shoes cause people could "possibly" kick others to death with them.... How bout we grow up and start holding people accountable for the choices they make, and the actions they carry out?

Stop blaming everyone else for your choices! This is nothing more than a tragic reminder of how irresponsible people can be with even the most precious of things. The headline should just read, "Sad loss after parent rolls over on his child in sleep" or similar....

But then it wouldn't be very relevant for a tech oriented website, now would it? I mean, in defence of Tom's, real research takes time, money and hard work. Ask any REAL journalist and they would tell you how hard it can be to find and follow real stories. Why do that when you can just google keywords, copy/paste material and use misleading headlines? As for the readers, who cares? Where else can they go for tech related news?

The fact he played a game has nothing to do with this. This is just a very tragic accident and any organization that tries to twist this into "games are evil" should be ashamed of themselves. This includes you Tom's Hardware for the Title of this article, which will be the most obvious way for those dicks to find this poor man.

I don't understand why everyones upset about smoking pot. I smoke it sometimes and everytime i've smoked pot i've been in complete control of my actions. Plus if he smoked pot earlier in the "day" he wouldn't be high at 6am.
Whats it matter if the child sleept in a bed or a crib, it has the same chance of suffocating, just the crib keeps it from rolling/falling off.

Marijuana isn't addictive! The feeling of complete happiness from smoking it is!

I find the fact that marijuana was involved to be COMPLETELY irrelevant in this article.
