Mic wont record voice but picks up output sounds from computer

So the other day Im on discord and using my mic and what not, and everything is completely normal and fine. Today I turn on my computer and get on discord to voice call with a buddy of mine and all of a sudden my mic wont pick up my voice but picks up all the output computer sounds.

Before you say go to sounds and unmute mic and what not, no I already looked into all that. My stereo mix is disabled and always has been. My mic is unmuted and turned all the way up. I even reinstalled the sound drivers and updated them. I tried unplugging the mic and plugging it back in and restarting my computer.

Its not a setting on discord because I looked through there as well, but when I go to the sound settings where the mic is. The green bar that indicates sounds will not go up when I talk but only when I play music or so on.

Ive been googling about this all day and nothing has worked for me. If anyone has any idea how to fix this please respond it will be greatly appreciated.

The problem with that is I just bought this headset and it doesn't seem to have any damage done to it, the headphone speakers work fine, and if the mic was broken it wouldn't be playing output sounds from the computer.

Try this: Right click the sound icon in the taskbar and hit sounds, go to recording and make sure your default device is not stereo-mix

I'm also having this problem and that solution didn't work for me. Everything still only picks up the output audio and doesn't pick up anything else. I also have tested a different headset and had the same problem so it is not the headset. I use the Realtek HD Audio Manager to sort through and mess with my various audio inputs and outputs, hopefully that may help with a solution.

You can try plugging the headset into the 3.5mm jack in the back. You can also try an usb sound card for just 5-10$. Once you got one just disable the built-in devices (from the laptop/computer). If it's a desktop computer. I only recommend the last step if the first option doesn't work/your headset's cable is too short or something like that
