Question Micro-SD card adapter not detected in SD card slot

Hello there! Whenever I try to insert my micro-sd card adapter into the sd card slot on my computer, it doesn't show up in file explorer.

Windows 8.1, Acer Aspire ES-551G, 16 gb micro-sd
EDIT: Adapter works on another laptop

If it works fine on another laptop then there is something likely wrong with the port on yours. Have you tried using another device in it to see if the other one works?
