Microphone doesn't work, but when I listen to it from Recording devices and hit the mute button on it, I hear a *click*

Hi, so I have an Asus X552CL-SX075D with one combo jack, and using A4Tech Bloody G500 which has TRRS jack ( or how is that called ). The mic used to work on windows 10, but since I installed windows 7, it stopped working. If I go to Recording devices, the green bar doesn't move at all when I talk. Not only that, but it moves when I press the mute button on the headset cable. If I check " listen to this device ", when I press the mute button I hear a click. If I hold the mute button longer and release it, I hear some very weird noises.
