So I recently bought a new pair of headphones (Nexxtech Slim PC Headset...I'm cheap) and it has one cord that has 3 rings on it and the headset included a splitter but I do not think I need it since my laptop has a combo jack. When I plug it in, my laptop recognizes the audio but not the microphone. I checked to see whether or not it was disabled or hidden but it isn't even there. Any solutions?

Edit: I have Windows 10 and it uses Realtek.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First is to make sure that the laptop is picking up both Headset and Microphone.
- Right click on the speaker icon on the lower right hand corner and select Recording Devices.
- If the Microphone of your headphone is listed, right click on it and select Set Defaults then click Apply and OK.
- Do test if the mic will work once done changing those settings.
- If it will not work, uninstall/reinstall the Sound card driver first.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Sound driver.
- Once done, reboot the laptop and it should reinstall the driver automatically.
- Do test it again after the reboot and see if that will solve the problem.

Thanks for the help but sadly it did not work. I forgot to mention that I have Windows 10 and it uses Realtek.
