Microphone jack is playing both my PC sound and my headset sound?

i just got a new headset this time using the microphone jack instead of a USB port. As from now when i try to use skype and Teamspeak etc and im playing a game or listening to music they can hear it through both of them. I have tried disabled and muting stereo none of which have worked. I am using Realtek HD Audio Manager and my sound in onboard. Is there any solution to this issue as it is annoying?

There are some audio drivers, one such is Realtek, that can take the computer output and turn it into the input. Right click on the sound icon on bottom left icon bar, the click recording devices and make sure "Stereo Mix" or something similar, is disabled (Right click).

this is all i am using on my recording devices the rest have been disabled which is why im confused to why it's doing it.

This is a crappy answer, and i am sorry. But I fixed it.... HOW I do not exactly know. I fiddled around in RealTeks settings and played around with the default settings for stereo and optical audio.I had a friend on skype who was helping me trouble shoot it. First, I changed a default setting, lost youtube sound (for both of us) then I got it back (Seemingly by undoing what i did) and the problem was fixed. This is an underwhelming solution but I wanted you guys to know it is possible.

If you guys really cant figure it out, call up RealTek and give em hell until they help you, then post the solution here.

I had a very similar problem before. I had a sound card and was plugging in my headset to that. The solution i ended up coming up with was moving my sound card. I had it plugged into a PCI slot instead of a PCI express slot (small ones). Was causing people over Voip programs to hear my comp sounds. If you have a sound card check it's not plugged into a PCI slot (meant of graphics cards and stuff).

If you go into the realtek audio manager under the microphone tab the second slider is playback volume. Mute that and you should be good to go.

go to control panel, sounds, recording, 1 click on microphone and then properties, choose "listen" option and make sure "Listen to this device" is disabled.....also under "enhancements" disable all sound effects (you can later enable enhancements in Realtek control panel...works for windows 7, 8
