Hello, i just bought Trust Starzz microphone, it came with 3.5mm adapter. My laptop doesn't have 2 separate ports for both Mic and Headset, it only has one - Headset. So the Mic doesn't work even with adapter on, i know that Microphone & Adapter aren't faulty, i tested them on my older :aptop which has both ports, When i plug it in in my new Laptop with adapter on it doesn't even get displayed on Device Manager, i know both of them work because when i plug the device and it says which device it is... if i select Line in it does show up in "Sound" as.. well.. line in :D So if i select anything else it doesn't show up anywhere.. Help will be appreciated ! <3

A microphone can't work in a headphone only port. It is impossible. The port is made for output only, where as a microphone needs input.

Your only option is not an adapter like you have but a 3.5mm to USB adapter. That would allow you to connect through the USB port and this would allow for using the microphone. You would be looking for one like this one... https://www.amazon.com/LZYCO-External-connector-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B018YV3ALM/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1486193340&sr=8-9&keywords=3.5mm+to+usb+adapter

But on its Installation Guide it says at Option 3 that it should work like that, is that a lie?

That would only work if you are trying to put a dual mic/headphone connection (the two 3.5mm) into a single input/output port. It would not work in an output only one. So while the instructions are correct for a dual input/output port, they are not correct for a single output port.

So i tried plugging it in my mobile phone (Sony Xperia Z3) and it worked perfectly, it also has only one port... In my mind i thought that was headphone port as well... So is it like different kind of port where both Microphone or headphones could work? cuz if it worked on phone and not on computer thats only exlplanation i could think of... If laptops port can't support both of devices why did they even start removing Mic only ports...
