Microphone not working

Hello , I have a ASUS F550J laptop and I'm trying to get my microphone work ( its from the ttesports shock spin hd royal red ) and it's not recognized by the laptop as a microphone , it recognizes it as headphones . The laptop came with Windows 8.1 with a Smart Sound driver , not Realtek. I really want to get the external mic to work because the laptop mic makes wind and motor sounds .

Your laptop uses a combo jack, you'll need to use splitter in order for your microphone to work.

Here's a sample of a splitter.

I already have a splitter but mic doesn't work even alone in the combo jack
