As someone previously said the problem isn't with the internet, the problem is with Microsoft's poorly designed OS.

The difference is medical viruses don't have a governing intelligence telling it who to infect and how. Computer viruses can be changed and redistributed in a matter of hours. Skilled hackers will always find a way around it - code is code.

sounds cherrry on paper, but seriously even if they could implement this you knwo teh nightmare this would cause to consumers , ther are millions of computers infected with viruses, that would trhow a system like this on alert not to forget bloat ware ,and crazy DRm Schemes that from time to time read as avirus (i actually had a freind whose norton kept tripping out on securom in bioshock and spore).

The contract that I made with my ISP basically states that if my computer starts spewing half a million emails a day, they can and will disconnect it from the internet. Apparently they have had that policy since 1995, and it works very well, so I really don't understand why you all think that this somehow too hard to do.

err.. that sounds like the speech of a 12year old guy only playing games and dowmloading movies on his pc... Ever heard about mission critical Busines Applications and Middleware Infrastructure ??

It's actually a great idea and it wouldn't be that complicated to implent. Has it's been pointed out though, measures will have to be taken to eliminate false positives. Furthermore, a PC doesn't automatically have to be excluded from the net at the first sign infection. Threats could have levels on and only the highest level would require quarantine.

So, Microsoft just buys an antivirus company, and all the sudden we need his antivirus installed to access internet. Nice. I bet some goverments will like that excuse also.
I thing they are ways already to make some entrusted areas, if they want to define an internet.3.entrusted thats risky, but to close access to internet thats tooo much.

I guess ISP's would need to scan your computer for infections before you connect? OR prehaps they would require an active scanner that confirms to them that your PC is virus free by sending a message quick before connecting...

answer...you can't, even a fresh install requires updates which gives you the chance the virus to attack once again.

I do not care for this idea. Users will go online to download programs or instructions to remove a virus. So what will they do if they have no other computers to use? Get ripped off by GeekSquad?

No scanning involved, the whole idea is based on the fact that if you have a "harmfull" virus, it starts sendind shit into the world, and it is very easy to see where all the traffic is going, conspiracy theorist's need not apply, they really don't give a shit about your porn downloads...
