Microsoft: Xbox 360 Not Having Blu-ray is Good

Somehow I find that Greeberg's statement as being ignorant, arrogant, and self-denial. Deep down MS would wish the Blu-ray technology matured a generation earlier so that they could take advantage of it in their machine. I strongly believe that MS will include a BD drive for their next machine. See how PS3 is not plagued by piracy, I do not doubt that MS will not want that on their machine.

[citation][nom]tayb[/nom]You don't have to buy a hard drive. Since when have you HAD to buy a hard drive?[/citation]
How exactly do you save games without a hard drive? The cheapest one you can buy is the horrible 20 gig for $60 (do they still sell it even?)

I only have an X360, mostly because of being able to stream stuff from my PC to it and netflix (which wasnt available for a while). PS3 would be a waste for me since blu-ray is still so expensive to rent/buy movies.

[citation][nom]megamanx00[/nom]My PC has a Hard Drive and a 5870. Take that ^_^[/citation]
I have like 14 hard drives, take that! (1x1TB, 8x500GB, 3x80GB). I can't even fit them all in my case!

I think I actually would have preferred the PS3, but that's purely for a couple of exclusives, bluray and bluetooth. You know, those expensive extras. Free online is nice too, but damn, I absolutely HATE PSN...

This is what it boils down to:

PS3 includes everything you need and has free internet. Plus you get a Blu-Ray player and a media centre all in one

Xbox, you need to buy all sorts of extras and pay a monthly online subscription.

Take all that into account and it's a no brainer.

You can't deny that in the near future and well before the current consoles are replaced, the storage restrictions of the Xbox will become a huge factor in deciding which format of a game is better. The Xbox has a slim advantage graphics-wise and that has helped it come out on top but it was only a matter of time before the storage limitations become a bigger issue. Sure MS can probably get away with this by giving you multiple discs to load and a long and tedious install but no one can ignore the fact that the next gen consoles will have to use Blu-Ray. So what's so wrong with MS just releasing a Blu-Ray Xbox? Or an add-on drive? Maybe not now but it may become necessary soon.

I hate marketing spinsters, they're up there with political demagogs.

Take the North American market share and spin it your way.

Now Sony can just isolate the Japan figures and say: We've four times the installed userbase, good thing we included Blu-Ray.

Or both look at the European numbers and conclude: we're in a tie, the optical drive didn't do shit.

Take all that into account and it's a no brainer.

Sorry no. PS3 does not have everything you need. PSN maybe improving but it is still not as good as XboxLive. It might one day become necessary for MS to make Live free but not in the near future. Also a Blu-Ray player is only useful if you are actually going to watch Blu-Ray discs. If you have an extensive DVD collection, then it would really make the Xbox a no brainer.

As for extras, if you're going for the Arcade then yes but the Elite for example has all those "extras" and costs around the same as the PS3 slim so, again your "no brainer" statement lacks depth.

I, for example, bought my Xbox when the PS3 cost a lot more. If I had a choice today, I might go for the PS3 but not because of the Blu-Ray player, but for the exclusives. It really is all about preference in the end. I owned a PSX and PS2 but due to price, I got myself an Xbox360. It's great with a great range of games. If I had the same choice now, I would have a choice of two consoles at the same price point.

you're pretty much wrong all the way through that verbal diarrhea of an argument you just poop stained all over your shorts

wii wins thx to the modding capabilities. PC wins cuz it has better graphics than 360 and ps3. you negate this, you missed the mark this generation. derrrrr!!!!! stupid kids, all of you.

I think they should change the title of the article from;

"Microsoft: Xbox 360 Not Having Blu-ray is Good"

to

"Microsoft: Xbox 360 Not Having Blu-ray WAS Good"

It may have been better off without Blu-ray the first few years but not anymore, now people are moving from DVD's to Blu-ray's which means they will also likely be moving from Xbox360 to PS3 because of the fact PS3 offers a built in Blu-ray player. Gaming machines are used often as media players so having Blu-ray will become more and more important as time goes on.

[citation][nom]hakesterman[/nom]Sorry i am not marketing the PS3, i am just stateing the facts about the Xbox360. You are not getting True High Definition through Streaming Netflix movies. And you are getting only about 20 percent of the movies that are available. I never once mentioned that the PS3 is a better gameing machine, they are the same as for gameing. I Simply stated that Streaming Video is a far cry from Bluray, if you believe otherwise go see an eye doctor. I don't care if you have a $ 2,500 Pc cause you want choices, you should beable to have choices and Microsoft shoould give them to you, but they are not. What they are giving you is a watered down version and then comming online and telling you your getting the best when in fact you are not if your streaming video. Just stateing the facts. I always get a kick out of all these die hard Xbox fans that can't handle the trueth, then they go and insert things that i didn't say. And last but not least the Xbox360 is not blowing out the PS3 in sales anymore, those days are over. And if you read Toms hardware on a regular basis you will see the Artical in which they have already stated that the PS3 will win the Console war again. But again that was not my point, my point was Steaming Video is not HD and your gettting a watered down version of movies on your Xbox360. It has nothing to do with the system cababilitys, it has to do with the Morons at Microsoft. Ok Xbox fanboys what else are you going to falsely acuse me of ????????[/citation]

Just a little off topic, but your post was really hard to read. Here's a couple of standard rules:

-drop the silent "e" when adding "ing" to verbs (state becomes stating, game becomes gaming, etc.)

-plural for words ending with "y" are usually ended with "ies" instead (capability becomes capabilities, etc.)

Hope that helps.

[citation][nom]njalterio[/nom]For the billionth time....the Xbox 360 does NOT do 1080p in games or movies. Streaming video is NOT in 1080p. The PS3 supports blu ray, which allows for 1080p in movies. There are very, very few games available (ones that aren't very graphically detailed) on the PS3 that are rendered in 1080p. Regardless....most of you fanboys arguing about 1080p can take a hike....most of you probably cannot even tell the difference between 1080p and 720p from your TV size and viewing distance:http://s3.carltonbale.com/resolution_chart.html[/citation]

[citation][nom]back_by_demand[/nom]The tech specs of all he console and their associated extras are only icing on the cake. The most important factor for most console users is a simple truth.Xbox exclusive games are just better.[/citation]

What exclusives? Not to mention this is also subjective but name me 10 good 360 exclusives that I can't get on PC or PS3

My PC has 1TB (RAID 0) + 2.8TB (JOBD) of storage a BluRay player and it output games at 1080p...

I can even store my BRs in *.iso on it!

PS3 and Xbox are toys, get over it.

The PS3 is a good bluray player for the TV, if you dont have a laptop that is.

Unless you guys are playing the games on a home theatre projector, I don't think it matters that games are upcoverted from 720p...

The PS3 started with 60gb and 20gb, not 50gb.

Microsoft is wrong, because even though the PS3 costs $100 more, u get the investment of having the blu-ray and wifi installed. To have wifi on an xbox u need to pay a big load to get the wifi adapter, and a blu ray costs about $100. Not to mention the space and the more future proof that the PS3 is. My point is that the value of the PS3 destroys the value of a 360 by alot. Right now the only things gluing people to their 360s is the incredibly awesome game exclusives for the console.
