Hello Gurus,

Kindly advise on a mid level gaming laptop suitable for college going students which will suitable for light gaming. I mainly play Fifa so a really high end notebook is not required. Weight and battery life are my priorities. I am considering the following 2 models:

Acer Aspire V5-573G-9491 15.6-inch

HP ENVY 15t Quad Edition Notebook

Resolution is not a concern for me. I am just confused which of these will give better performance..the i7 4500U + GT 720M or the i7 4700MQ??

Please advise and provide any other options if available :)

laptops are horrendous, no thought is put into them by the manufacturer. If you find a good one you can likely get 3x the power in a PC for the same cost.

still i understand the need to be mobile in a college so you need to get a laptop. I would urge you strongly to get a PC for gaming, and a cheap 100 or 200 dollar netbook for the college stuff. running word docs, powerpoints, and internet browsers isnt so much work for lower end processors anymore.

Hey I know laptops are horrible for gaming!! I myself own a gaming rig which I made last year but as I am an international student going to join a college in US this fall...building a PC will not be possible for me right now as I would be staying temporarily and will have to move regularly...what's your advice on i7 4500U + GT 720M vs i7 4700MQ?

you should consider, the bulk is kinda necessary with the higher end components. i dont know much about mobile graphics cards so i cant help you too much there

You could look at laptops made by Asus like the asus N series or you can always go for a clevo barbones laptop which offers the best in terms of maintainability if you don't mind the dull look. Toshiba satellite is good but I forgot the model number.
