Mid-Range Gaming Laptop

After doing quite a bit of searching i've come across this laptop that I believe is nearly perfect for me but would like some input on it's performance, as well as, if there are any better laptops you guys know of.

Major things I am looking for:

Price: Under $1000

Backlit keyboard and good aesthetic look (brushed aluminum is nice)

500gb + 7200rpm HDD (additional SSD would be lovely)

3rd gen Intel i7

Medium-High gaming performance

Decent battery life as it will also be used for college

Very similar price, significantly better GPU (four times the shaders, higher clocks, gddr5 memory)

The machine you linked you'll find to be pretty lacking GPU-wise for gaming I suspect.
