Mini dv recovery

Hello,
My mini DV tape doesn't play any picture or sound through my Sony camcorder, which is working perfect for other tapes. Sony expert said my tape id damaged. I watched that tape many times before. It's once in a lifetime holiday film. Any idea who can recover the film to a DVD? Many thanks.

can you play the tape in a regular mini player, if so, you can copy it, if not ---
