Mirrored/Extended Desktop not Working

I work for a University and we use a computer in my desk to control a Powerpoint on a hallway display LCD (LG) via Cat6 Shielded Twisted Pair wire, with HDMI Conversion boxes on each end.

I've had it plugged in and working for about a year now, but it only worked in MIRROR mode, NOT EXTENDED. I just couldn't get the extended to work-- the computer would detect the TV but the TV would say "not input detected." I said, oh well, and just used the mirror mode.

Recently the mirror mode stopped working as well, displaying on the TV: "No input detected." The computer still sees the monitor, but the signal doesn't seem be pushing through.

something wrong with the universities IT dept? Have them test the cables.
Test the tv by connecting it to another laptop or pc with known good cables. Test your pc by connecting your working monitor to the other port.
