Missing operating system error after change of active partition in DOS OS

By mistake i changed the active partition in dos os and now my laptop is not booting and just giving the message "MISSING OPERATING SYSTEM". My laptop came with dos os only and am not able to install any other OS now as the size of the drive shown now is just 870MB. Please do help me out

Simply change it back with a DOS boot disk.

Yes. You can also do this with a bootable "live" Linux CD/DVD with diskpart. There are multiple MS DOS images available on the 'Net. Just google one.

Also, how did you accidentally change the active partition? What did you use to do that?
