Hello,

I upgraded my Directivo to a larger drive using MFStools. The
upgrade was successful. I replaced the original single 40Gig
drive with a 120Gig. The strange thing, is that now when I go
to the "Now Playing" list, the programming does not stop. I
continue to see whatever program that I was watching behind
the now difficult to read Now Playing text. This is also true
of all other menus such as "Pick programs to record", or "wish list"
or "Preferences" etc.

Does anyone know how I can get the old familiar (mine was blue)
background screen with the little animated tivo guy with antennas
back?

Thanks,

Tobiah

You may have omitted an optional parameter when performing the drive copy
command. You can fix the problem by redoing the copy operation and
making sure all parameters have been entered for the copy step.

I've got a friend with the same problem on a series one
direct tivo that was upgraded. Still don't know what
caused it, (it still does it) but it was upgraded also.

I had the same problem when I upgraded my S2. The problem turned out to be
that i followed the wrong set of instructions. I used the S1 instructions
by mistake.

Sounds to me like you were not as successful as you thought.
You still have your original hard Drive to try again?

When you did your backup, you must have forgot the "-f 9999" flag. You will
need to do the backup/restore again.

Use this command:

mfsbackup -f 9999 -6so /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdx

where /mnt/dos is where you mount your backup dos drive & /dev/hdx is your
Tivo drive, depending on how it's plugged in, slave, master, etc.

I did indeed. Would someone please elaborate on why that flag is
necessary, and whether it depends on owning a Series I or II, and
if so, how I might tell which I own?

Thanks,

Tobiah

After booting from your mfstools cd, enter

mfsbackup --help

this will explain the various options.
