I have a 4 1/2 year-old Mitsubishi VS-50805 which has been great. Due
to all of the small children at my house it runs all day, every day
and it has never had a problem.
Last night we had a storm and the power blinked on and off a couple of
times. I have the power cord running through a surge protector, but I
didn't run the incoming cable through the surge unit because it
degraded the picture. I guess there was a surge through the cable
because when I turned the tv back on after the last electricity
flicker the picture was way off. The guns are definitely out of
convergence - way out, and the screen in pinched vertically in the
center (like and hourglass laying on it's side). I tried to manually
adjust the convergence throught the advanced menu. There was no
problem getting to the convergence screens, but the adjusment actions
weren't having any effect on the lines. I also tried the "restore to
factory convergence" option. It says that the action was completed,
but it had no effect.
A Mits-certified tech is coming next Thursday and I'd like to know
what to expect. Any of you have a diagnosis, and possible cost? The
tech is travelling about 25 miles. The service call is $150.00, plus
whatever needs to be done. Does that sound about right?
Thanks in advance,
Nick
