[citation][nom]Richard Long[/nom]User generated content usually sucks. You're all complaining bitterly about $5 dollars.Dedicated servers are seriously annoying (largely due to the self-important, rule-obsessed idiots who run them i.e. "No running!" "Crouch only!" "No Hip-fire!" "No noob-tube!" "Snipers only!" and the list goes on).Discuss.I just want to play the damn game. What else are you going to do with that $5? Go to mcdonalds?[/citation]
How about donating it or saving it? Surely, you can do something with that $5 turning into a $10, $15, or $20?
Anyway, when it comes to user-generated content, I wouldn't say "usually". If you played any of the Valve games--particularly Team Fortress 2--there are some really ingenious stuff out there. Not just only maps, but actual new game modes created by the userbase community and Valve recognizes them for it. Yes, they're actually fun too.
As for dedicated servers, yes, you do get servers like what you described. However, they don't outnumber the "regular" servers (and certainly not as exaggerated). The best remedy is to find a server(s) you personally like and stick with it/them.
There's nothing wrong with just wanting to play the damn game your own way. It's just that when you're playing online on any game, you're gonna have to bend back for others at some point.
