[citation][nom]themasterof420[/nom]So sick of people sue each other.[/citation]
Especially those supper rich bastards!
That moron already has a solid fortune. The only thing that all this achieves is higher prices for tech as in the end Android OS licence fees will increase making Android phones more expensive. Therefore becoming out of reach for millions of ppl.

But that is the intention, isn't it?

Breaking news! The Google homepage has been updated and the embedded hyperlink is asking for an assassin! A hit was put out on John W. Keating yesterday. The price offered for his head was 10m in Google stock. Investigators are clueless to whom the requester of the hit could be...

[citation][nom]bin1127[/nom]I think the shareholders can just vote no to the acquisition. Saying Google underpriced them either means they don't realize Motorola is not doing much with the patents or they are waiting for another bid. Which I suspect should be coming in soon from ms and apple.[/citation]

Google is the only one that would make sense to buy them. Motorola makes Android phones, not Windows Mobile or iOS. So if Apple or Microsoft bought them, what would they make? WM phones? Apple Phones?

(Mock) surprise! Say it isn't so!

In the days of profits via litigation, this action should not come as a great shock. Unfortunate to those shareholders who actually have much to gain if this bogs down the acquisition.

its surprising how little people know about this.

17000 pattents. lets just say that each one is a bullet google needs.

google could easily be seen paying 100k for useless patents, and 10 million for the silver bullet ones, at an average of 1 million a patent, i think they could have bought it for 17 billion and still not have over payed.

point is, this buy thinks Motorola head that big number, and didn't try to go for more, and decided to cash out. and that lesser share holders got screwed because of the majority share holders greed.

its highly plausible, just think, if someone offered to turn your 100 million dollars into 163 million, would you hold out and see if you can get more, and risk losing? the lesser investors, yes, but the major ones who control it? not so much.

remember the key here is 17000 patents.

@alidan

doesn't matter how many patents Motorola holds, the company was in terminal decline for a while, if their patents were so important someone would have brought them up a long while back, the reason the dude got riled up was that had it been publicly known ahead of time that Google was going to buy moto then Apple and it's cohorts would have went nuts and driven the share prices through the roof

the truth worth of this acquisition (and the patents) will only become apparent when Google does another purchase, patents become a more powerful tool once they are augmented via another set of patents (imagine a touch screen patent augmented with a GSM patent)

if motorolla sold its patents to keep it self alive, it would have died in horrific flames. the patents were the only thing of reasonable value they had. and they probably could have gotten allot more for them.

look at what apple sues over, and everyone else... its all little bs that is obvious. with google having 17000 more patents, like i said, every one is a bullet. they basically just bought some more ammo for their l.o.i.c.
