Solved! Motorola screen goes dark over and over in seconds; Batt is fully charged

I inherited my brother's motorola smarphone. Just want to get WIFI going for now.
There is not a Sim 1 card in the slot.
I am a noob to the phone. The screen turns on, gets normal logon graphics then goes dark in say, 20 seconds. The battery is fully charged. Some functions if triggered before the screen blanks out work, for example the flashlight...
What is needed? Where can I get a manual on line? What is the model number?

Nothing is needed, if you are using the phone and it goes dark in the middle of you using it, there is some issue with the system. If you don't need anything on it, see if a factory restore helps.

A web search for your model should come up with the manual. The reset should be in the security options.
