I have two laptops, one is water damaged and wont power on. the other is a downgrade in terms of pretty much everything; RAM, graphics card, memory, even processing power. I use these laptops for softcore gaming, no real triple-A titles, but now this new one can't even run simple games like Minecraft or Binding of Isaac. I was wondering if there was a way to just take out all the components of the damaged laptop and move them to this newer one. Is it possible? Are the components too damaged to even bother? How could I, someone less skilled in technology, know what's broken and what's not?

Posting what make/model of laptops you have would be very helpful.

Generally, all you can reuse would be HD (assuming interface and physical size are the same), RAM (assuming types and speeds are the same), maybe the optical drive and wifi card among a few other things.
