Could you right click on one of the files and tell me what the bitrate is? anything below 100 is i think is considered lower quality and 128kb/s is HQ.

Unfortunately, there's no global standard for volume (and if there were, it would've been obliterated by the stupid loudness wars carried out by the music studios). So every soundtrack you pick up online will have a different volume level.

If you wish to keep it long-term, load it into an audio editing program like Audacity. And use the Normalize function to permanently adjust its volume to more or less the same volume as everything else you normalize. You can even do a batch normalize on a bunch of files (I'll let you google for instructions on how to do that). Just be aware that the process is destructive, so the sound quality will be slightly worse (perhaps imperceptibly so) than the original file if you'd just cranked up the volume on your speakers. Doing it once or twice is probably fine, but don't make a habit of doing it or making other edits dozens of times.

1) Any MP3 from youtube is low quality garbage, it's like watching VHS movies or playing games at 9fps.
2) Get Foobar
3) Get some good 24/96 flac
4) Enjoy Hi-Res music.... In PC nerd language, Enjoy 4K gaming.

Actually, If it comes down to recommendation for media download software... Use the torch browser. I at first thought it was some adware kinda thing, but it's actually a tweaked and modified version of chrome... You can use all your chrome functions and it comes with.... Media Grabber (If any video is playing, it will download the video and/or extract the audio too) . It also comes with a inbuilt torrent downloader, great since chrome browsers are multi-process allowing for more management and power. and comes with a media viewer, so instead of downloading a file you don't have to open something like VLC to play it before downloading.

Most Phones and MP3 players wont read Flac as well as the size is limiting unless you have a huge amount of space. 320kbs is a great format for mobile users, the file size is good and the sound on the average pair of speakers and headphone is enough to satisfy nearly everyone.

For downloadable Legal Free Music of decent quality "256kbs and above" look at these.

Then there are the Premium options that most of these offer for a Monthly fee or $4.99 and up or Yearly fee of $49.99 and up.

I wont list the illegal options as downloading off YouTube is on the same path but if your wanting to steal then don't complain about the quality.

Downloading from YouTube is 100% legal and doesn't go against piracy laws or infringe copyright... It's only illegal to Distribute and Sell these files downloaded.

Therefor websites like soundcloud.com are just artist support. If you find that it worth paying for te song, it's completely optional to do so.

I'd recommend reading this... http://www.flvto.biz/how-to/is-it-legal-to-download-music-from-youtube/

That doesn't state "Royality" related songs and albums people rip and toss up on Youtube those are illegal anyway you look at it. If some Indi label or private group decides to post to Youtube then most likely there are no Royalties involved.
