Was looking at gaming laptops and found a ASUS rog laptop with a i7 and 670m and a MSI With a A10 and 7970m, both cpus are similar for clock speed but obviously we know the i7 out performs the A10, but having the best in amd mobile graphics would it make the MSI a better choice for gaming? or would the A10 not allow for best performance?

the iGPU on the A10 doesn't matter while gaming since the laptop will really on just the 7970m. I'd take the ASUS over the MSI, but what are the prices of the two?

Look at reviews, the A10 does slow down the 7990m, compared to an i7 with a 7990. I like ASUS, have a MOBO, Tablet, laptop. All great. But MSI is good to. You CAN upgrade the CPU and the GPU in the MSI, I don't know if you can with the ASUS

I have an i7 and a 650m ASUS that I got a good deal on, I love it! Backlit keyboard, runs cool even when gaming. I agree that I would take the i7 with the 670mx over an A10 with 7990m.

cheapest asus laptop with the 670/i7 is $1350, and the msi with A10/7970m is $1200, that link showed that a intel quad core guessing i7 and a 660m was 5% worse overall than the a10/7970m as the 660m are slightly less than the a10 setup

True, but if you look at the benchmarks, where the msi pulls ahead is where you are playing at 1080p,... and getting 20fps. At playable settings (40+ fps) the i7+660m is quite often ahead.

Lenovo y500 with dual 750m (which is faster than a 660m by about 10%) might be better, though you may have SLI problems and battery life will be poor.
