Ok guys/ gals. Here's my story
My wife is in need of a new laptop. She is a flight attendant so she travels often. In her down time, she likes to game a little. We played Final Fantasy 11 since NA release and now would like to move on to Final Fantasy 14. They are both MMO's which is nice, because we can play them together even while she is away working. That being said, a laptop is our only option.
I have been racking my brain and reading so much information that everything is starting to blur and not making sense any more. The most we will be able to spend is $700 (US), because we have other obligations, such as raising our kids
The best laptop I can seem to find in our price range is this:

The spec's for this particular laptop are noted below, with what I feel are the most important spec's in bold.
GX640 Turbo Enhanced Special Edition Specs:
# Intel Core™ i5 Mobile Processor Technology-Core™ i5 430 M 2.26 ghz - 2.53 ghz (Latest Intel Calpella Platform)
# 15.4" WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) Widescreen Super Glare TFT Display
# Mobile Intel PM55 Chipset Family
# ATI RADEON HD 5850 - 1 GIG GDDR 5 (Dedicated Video Memory) + Direct X 11 support
# (Tier 1 graphics card, one of the most powerful single GPU chips available)
# ATI Overdrive and Hypertransport Technology
# BROADWAY PRO
# Windows 7 Home Premium 64- bit
# DVD+-RW/ CD+-RW
# 4 Gigs of DDR 3 memory 1066 mhz
# 500 Gb SATA HDD (7200rpm HDD)
# Built In 2.0 Megapixel Webcam
# Integrated Wireless A/B/G and draft- N (Condor Peak 1000)
# Bluetooth/ Gigabyte Ethernet (Included)
# 56k modem
# 4-in-1 Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro)
# E-SATA connector / IEEE1394
# HDMI connector (1080P supported)
# Dolby Theater Class 4.1 SRS Premium Sound™
# Certified High-Fidelity Speakers And Subwoofer
# SRS Premium Sound™-3D audio- Premium Audio experience for music, video, and games
# Built-In Digital/Analog 7.1-Channel S/PDIF Output
# 9- CELL EXTENDED BATTERY
Final Fantasy is a very demanding, unoptimized (at least IMO) game. She doesn't need to run at high settings, but would like to achieve 25+ FPS in populated areas.
The 5850 scores 985 in passmark: http/www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php which seems like a decent mobile GPU to me.
The Final Fantasy 14 benchmark can be found here: http/www.finalfantasyxiv.com/media/benchmark/na/
Bottom line, do any of you think this machine will do what we ask of it, or are we pretty much screwed? Other laptop users, if you wouldn't mind and could find it in your brilliant hearts, would you mind running the benchmark and producing your scores? I'm really at wits end on this and I need to purchase a laptop for her soon.
Thanks so much
