My acer aspire 5920 laptop turns on but wont start up

I turn on my laptop and It comes up with a dark blue/navy screen and the lightup buttons on the keyboard light up a light blue colour as they are supposed to do. however this is the only thing that comes up. It wont start up, just the same as above, navy screen and lit up buttons. help on how i can get the screen to come up/turn on?

Hi rebecca,

welcome to Tom's. Any chance to connect it to an external monitor? Do you here the disk working or disk light flicker? That would be an indication, that it's a problem with the screen, not the hard disk.
