My acer aspire e1 keyboard isnt working properly.

I have to hold the key down for a few seconds before what I want appears. When I press a key it makes a ticking noise. I can use my mouse and the keys without issue but the rest of the keyboard isn't workin properly. Please help.

have you done a system restore to before this started just in case an update screwed up causing this problem?
