Starting 2-3 days ago my computer has started running games and just running in general very slowly / not being able to run them at all sometimes,

Looking into my task manager with nothing open other than a single google chrome tab and the task manager it's using 82% of the physical memory (which i think should not be so high) and 90% of CPU usage. (again is probably too high)

You can take a look at the task manager here:

The memory seems to be absurdly high on many processes that arent even running or doing anything such as, 61,000K towards notepad (which isnt even open). The processes taking the most memory arent always the same either, sometimes processes will spike up to 1,000,000K memory then come down later for only a different program or multiple processes rising together.

Im not sure whats wrong? Ive looked online and heard about memory leaks and such but i still cannot find the problem! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First is to run a virus/malware clean up. Please use the link below for the complete guide and tools.
- Once done, do also disable all the startup items.
- After the malware/virus clean up, do a clean install of the graphics card driver as well.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the graphics card driver.
- Next is to open Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to the graphics card.
- Once done, done download and install the latest driver.
- Reboot the laptop once the latest driver has been installed.
- After the reboot do test it again and see if the same problem will persist or not.
- If all these will not work I would suggest running System Restore.
- Here's how: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-PH/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc
- And lastly, reinstall Windows if all these will not work.
