My dell laptop cd/dvd drive not working

Hello,
My dvd rom drive will not read any type of disk at all. When I put a disk in, the light comes on and it makes a sound, but that is all that happens. If I go to my computer and attempt to manually start the disk, it will pop the tray open and prompt me to insert a disk. The device manager says that the device is working properly and that I have the latest version of the driver required. I've tried all type of disk and software. Any advice?

Replace the drive, you tried everything else.
