My dell lattitude d600 wont turn

Hello,
I have a lattitude d600. My ac adapter got messed up and was using a universal one. it was working fine until last week it just wont turn on at all. I ordered a new ac adaptar but still no go. What can I do? Do I need a new battery?

what happens when you plug it in? are the chargers you're using made by Dell for your model laptop?
