My entire email just disappeared? How can I get it back?

All that happened was that my chromebook shut off. After that, I checked my email, and it was completely gone. Can anyone help me to recover it, because I had a lot of important emails on there. Thanks!

Need to know what program you used for email and how was it setup to download the email.
