So i have a Dell inspiron 3451 Laptop with Windows 10 and all my drivers are up to date. I bought an external mic (SOONHUA) to record audio for making YouTube videos but I can't for the love of god make it work. My laptop has a 3.5mm jack with a little picture of a headset next to it. (Which I assume means mic and headphones) I do have a splitter. (I have no idea if it's TRS or TRRS (?)) I plugged the microphone into the pink connector with the picture of the microphone on it on the splitter then into my computer and nothing. All it says is to pick what it is i just put into the port and I select mic in and nothing shows up in my audio devices. I plugged my headset straight into the port on my laptop to see if it worked and I could hear the audio but the Mic didn't work. So do I need to buy a new USB mic? Would a USB splitter type thing work? Or is it something completely different? I hope I gave enough information. All help is much appreciated!
