Hello,
I found a nice deal on a 5742G so I bought it yesterday. My specs are as follows:
i5-480M (yes I know it's 1st gen but it was cheap and should be adequate)
GeForce 540M
4 GB RAM 1066 MHz
500 GB Hitachi - I believe it's a 5200 RPM unit
I plan to use it mostly for school work. Probably some light gaming, and of course email and web browsing. Currently I'm looking for info on what to do next; I'm a computer enthusiast, but new to laptops. I consider myself quite knowledgeable on the desktop side of things. I want a SSD, but I don't know if my lappy has more than one SATA slot. If no, could I perhaps replace the DVD with a bigger HDD and put a SSD system drive over the current HDD? Do all laptops use 1.8" drives or are there 2.5" ones? Could this laptop support a 2x 120 GB SSD RAID, that'd be awesome?
I'm also wondering if it's possible to undervolt/overclock this thing - the BIOS is apparently locked
