my hdtv displays black and white only

my Panasonic p50u50 viera has only component and HDMI as the input but I can't seem to connect it to my DVD or decoder which has only AV ports ,and when I try to use the AV cables it shows me a fuzzy black and white screen... please help

did you try to change the input with your remote ?

That's because AV is old school and your tv can only support the newer connections.
You can try and see if you could find an AV to component adapter....doubtful though.
Or get an AV receiver and plug your DVD/decoder into that and output through the HDMI to your tv.

Yeah I did... Shows the DVD/decoder but with a fuzzy black and white display
