My Ibm thinkpad won't come on. It's charging fine but when I hit the power button it doesn't come on. Any ideas?

My ibm think pad will not turn on. I hit the power button and nothing happens. The screen stays black. Any ideas?

Sounds like the motherboard has died. Need more info. Is the charger plugged it when this happens? How old is the unit, Model?

IBM? That means your laptop is from 2005 or before since they sold the ThinkPad division to Lenovo.

The most likely cause is the CMOS battery is dead. You need to purchase a replacement and install it. It probably sells for around $15 - $20 on Amazon and you need to make sure it is the correct one for your laptop.
