This is a bit vauge, at this point it could be hardware, software, or alot newer laptops have on/of switches for touch pads. HP put's there's in the top left corner(of touch pad) a quick double tap turns it off and on. Some laptops even have on/off buttons. If this is not the case we need more information, have you tired restarting the computer, also have you tried hooking up a usb mouse to the computer, does that still work? Have u tired going and getting the newest software for your touch pad and reinstalling it? How old is your laptop? What Make and model is your laptop?
