My Laptop is the Sony VAIO and it wont run certain games is there anything i can do?

I was given the laptop as a gift and i can download and play some games such as Rust, i have to play it on the lowest quality and it still lags but as soon as i started playing 7 Days To Die and it dropped massively, my laptop's specs are:
AMD Athlon 2 P340 2.2GHZ Dualcore
4GB Ram
300GB Hard Drive
ATI Radeon 4200 Graphics
HDMI Out
4xUSB
Card Reader
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
Is there anything i could do?
